The Board of Trustees of Sattler College is honored to announce the appointment of Dr. Finny Kuruvilla as interim president of Sattler College, following the faithful and dedicated leadership of Zack Johnson, who has served as president since 2022.

Mr. Johnson’s steady hand and servant leadership have been a vital part of Sattler’s journey. Under his guidance, the college has deepened its roots and broadened its reach, staying true to its mission. From his early days as a founding administrator to his recent presidential term, he has poured his heart into this community, nurturing students, stewarding institutional growth, and leading with conviction. Among his lasting contributions is the launch of the Entrustment Model, Sattler’s bold, no-tuition approach to Christian higher education that entrusts students with both freedom and responsibility. He also helped expand the student body to reflect a global vision, welcoming students from around the world who are eager to serve Christ with wisdom and courage. Though he is transitioning out of the president’s office, his role at Sattler is far from over. He will join the Board of Trustees and carry on teaching, thus continuing to invest in the mission he has helped shepherd for so many years.

We now welcome Dr. Finny Kuruvilla, founder of Sattler College and long-time visionary for its mission, into the role of interim president. A physician, scientist, and biblical scholar, Dr. Kuruvilla brings a rare blend of academic excellence and kingdom-minded humility. His resume includes an MD and PhD from Harvard University, a background in medical research and investing, and decades of ministry leadership. But more than his credentials, what defines Dr. Kuruvilla is his unwavering commitment to raising up courageous followers of Jesus, students who embody spiritual depth and academic rigor.

Dr. Kuruvilla’s sacrifice to step into this role is again a reflection of his heart: one of joyful surrender for the sake of the Kingdom. He has never wavered from the dream that launched Sattler to establish a college that would produce wise, faithful, and bold leaders. 

As the Board looks ahead with confidence and clarity, we are deeply grateful for the continued involvement of both Mr. Johnson and Dr. Kuruvilla. Their partnership represents not merely a change in title, but a shared commitment to Sattler’s founding vision: to light the world through relational discipleship and academic excellence by forming radical disciples of Jesus who live in intentional Christian community and are equipped to serve Christ, the Church, and the world.
