Dearest Sattler Stakeholders,
Here is Presidential Newsletter #3. Onward to power, love, and sound minds (2 Tim 1:7).
Alumni Highlights
We are proud to share some of the exciting things our alumni are accomplishing. It is a little difficult to capture all the things alumni are doing in bullet points and we are working on a way to better survey and communicate our alumni beyond school acceptance. Many of our alumni are teaching at schools, some have gone abroad to launch business and church initiatives, some have stayed domestically and began positions at different companies, and some were hired to help lead at Sattler!
- An alumnus with a degree in computer science was accepted into a PhD program at Ohio State.
- An alumnus from our inaugural class was accepted into a Masters program at Cairn University.
- An alumnus from our inaugural class was accepted into an MD-PhD Combined Degree program at John Hopkins.
- An alumnus from our inaugural class was accepted into Washington University’s School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Student Highlights
- A current student’s paper “Alone on the frontline: The first report of PTSD prevalence and risk in de-occupied Ukrainian villages” is now formally published. This paper is the product of Austin Ressler’s Capstone research carried out while he took a year away from his formal classes to volunteer for a humanitarian mission to Ukraine. This paper is important because it is one of the first and only analyses of PTSD prevalence in the front lines where the trauma of warfare is most intense and emotional well-being is commonly neglected. Because of his lead in this work, Austin Ressler, as an undergrad, was able to be lead author on this paper published in a high-caliber, peer-reviewed journal. He was also assisted by his Sattler classmate, Jonathan Mast, the third author of this work. Being the lead author of a paper of this quality as an undergrad is a relatively uncommon achievement worthy of celebration.
- A senior was recognized by FaithTech Boston’s leadership team for his efforts in helping kickstart the Faith Boston chapter.
- We are all excited to see what our seniors have been up to for their seniors Capstones (one senior already coordinated a highly rated Therefore Go event titled “Cultivating Caring Communities).
- The Sattler Amphitheatron put loads of effort into their production of William Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure.
