Susan Freeman
Adjunct Professor in Statistics
Dr. Susan Freeman received her B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University in 1980, where she gained valuable co-op experience at Mass General Hospital, Raytheon, and Tektronix. After working as an Industrial Engineer at Eastman Kodak Company on manufacturing control systems and factory layouts, she returned to academia in 1990, earning her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern. Dr. Freeman joined the university full-time in 1996, teaching first-year engineering courses and serving in the industrial engineering program. She directed the First Year Engineering program in 2014 and has been recognized with the University Excellence in Teaching Award and College of Engineering Outstanding Teacher Award, among numerous ASEE honors. As Associate Dean for Teaching,
Learning and Experiential since 2019, she focuses on student success and innovative educational approaches, including AI integration in teaching and learning. A committed Christian and active member of her local church, Dr. Freeman brings a heart of care and service to her work with students, reflecting her faith through her dedication to their academic and personal development. She continues her research in educational approaches and K-12 engineering outreach, where she has been recognized by the Boys and Girls Clubs for her service-learning contributions.
