Admissions Coordinator
Susan Deal’s role as Admissions Coordinator at Sattler is a career shift after serving in music ministry for 30 years in Baptist churches in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. Her relatively new career allows her to exercise her passions for organization and collaboration. Susan holds a Master of Music in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and a Bachelor of Music Education from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
In addition to her work at Sattler, Susan has recently become a facilitator for a new initiative designed to help ministers flourish in ministry. As part of the Thriving in Ministry grant initiative, Susan helps guide a cohort of church musicians with the purpose of creating a network that equips participants to be mentors and mentored.
Susan and her husband, Tommy, live in Palmyra, Virginia, near Charlottesville. They moved there recently to be near their children and grandchildren. Their oldest son, Ragan, his wife, Jessica and their son, Thomas, live in Richmond, Virginia. William and his wife, Mary Kate live in Lynchburg, Virginia, with their twin daughters Dorothy and Adeline. In addition to spending time with her family, Susan accompanies for the local high school chorus and Charlottesville’s community youth chorus and sings in her church choir. Her other interests are golf, boating, hiking, and exploring historic landmarks.
