Lisa Covington, MS, MS

Lisa Covington has a diverse educational and occupational background. She holds a Master of Science degree in Sociology, a Master of Science degree in Occupational and Technical Studies (Adult Education), with concentrations in Psychology, Business and Industry Training, and College Instruction, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a management concentration. Her research interests included psychopathology, empathic development, domestic violence/trauma, and criminology. She has 17 years of experience in higher education, having served as a professor, in institutional effectiveness, in accreditation efforts, and in administration. Her professional passions in instruction involve appealing to various student learning styles and facilitating professional development to help colleagues generate ideas for application-oriented instruction. Additionally, she is an entrepreneur, and prior to transitioning into higher education, she worked as an administrative manager in health care and in manufacturing.

Lisa and her husband, Garry, reside in Alton, Virginia, and have one son, Cameron, a cybersecurity professional in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is a Christian, saved by grace through faith, and loves her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In addition to her family, her personal passions include lifting praises in song to God, her Silky Terrier – Bella, reading, music, blogging, and photography.
