Clubs and Associations
Clubs are a perfect place for students to make friends, develop skills, and have fun during college. With a range of goals, activities, and personalities, Sattler’s clubs are a great opportunity for students to grow personally and professionally in an extracurricular setting.
Student Leadership Opportunities
Clubs also offer a great opportunity for students to participate in leadership activities by serving on the club council. Most clubs have at least President, Treasurer, and Secretary positions, and these club positions can help students develop team-building, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Read more about each of the Sattler clubs below. For students who are considering joining a club as a fun extra to their Sattler life, all clubs welcome visitors.
Pre-Med
Pre-Health Association
The Sattler Pre-Health Association aims to create a tight-knit community among fellow students pursuing health careers, equipping them to stay motivated and navigate the path to graduate school. This will be accomplished through building broader networks, compiling resources, and offering various workshops and speaking events throughout the semester.
The community and resources of the association help pre-health students stay on track and motivated amidst the academic rigor of Sattler's biology track.
Evangelism
Matthew 29 Union
Matthew 29 Union exists to catalyze, connect, and equip Sattler students to be adequate at sharing the good news of Jesus’s kingdom and love for the world in word, deed, and power.
Singing
Choir Club
A choir’s purpose is to sing songs that glorify God and draw people to worship Him.
Scripture clearly gives a mandate for Christians to sing (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16). The choir intends to unite students in corporate worship through the production of acappella music. Musically, the club will focus on choral pieces. A repertoire will be developed as songs are learned and perfected. Members will develop the musical skills of rhythm, correct pitch perception and production, diction, etc. Choir is intended to be a club where members can step away from other aspects of college life to relax, connect with fellow students, and worship God.
Comp-Sci
C.O.D.E.R.S.
Coders brings together students enthusiastic about technology in community, integrating faith and technology to foster the exchange of essential skills, cutting-edge tools, and connections with industry professionals. Through guest lectures, hands-on exercises, and career preparation sessions, we strive for excellence as we collaborate to develop our visions of serving God through our careers.
Theater
Sattler Amphitheatron
The Amphitheatron seeks to challenge its members to use theatre as a means of seeing in all directions. First, the members will be challenged to look inward and develop as truth-tellers and story-tellers. Second, members will look outward into the lives of each other. Members will challenge each other and applaud the development of each other’s skills. Third, members will provoke the community to see and hear the needs of those around them. Theatre is not the revolution; but the Amphitheatron strives to be the rehearsal for Jesus’ peaceful revolution.
The Ampitheatron aims to help students develop their individual talents, encourage their fellow club members, and inspire the community with thought-provoking productions.
Service
The Welcome Club
The Welcome Club helps students befriend and care for refugees. We act as a micro-community, supporting refugees as they rebuild their lives in an unfamiliar place. Through this, we learn from their experiences and share our community's resources of time, knowledge, and relationship. We work under the Geneva Initiative, a program of Send Relief.
Debating
Debate Club
Debate club is a chance for students to learn the skills of debate and have an enjoyable break from classes by engaging in discourse over perfectly irrelevant topics, with an occasional sprinkling of moderately relevant topics. This will grow the student’s abilities in critical thinking, logical reasoning, and persuasiveness while also learning how to be more eloquent in public speaking. It will also help the student learn how to engage fully with opposing ideas while not actually having major disagreements over doctrine with fellow students.
Literature
Margaretha Society
Margaretha Society aspires to aid women to better understand and cultivate their roles in society by critically studying and discussing the stories and writings of notable female figures throughout history.
