Darren Penn, PhD

Assistant Professor of Humanities

Darren Penn holds a PhD in English literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA in English literature and creative writing from Brandeis University. Before joining Sattler, he taught in the Writing Program at Boston University. His teaching experience includes courses on Modernist literature; American poetry from 1900-1950; Twentieth-Century poetry; resistance and rebellion rhetoric; and Holocaust literature. His research interests focus on poetry and poetics, modernist poetry, lyric theory, critical theory, and Latin-American literature. He is currently completing a book manuscript on the poetry of Wallace Stevens.
